About the position

Ahold Delhaize USA, a division of global food retailer Ahold Delhaize, is part of the U.S. family of brands, which includes five leading omnichannel grocery brands - Food Lion, Giant Food, The GIANT Company, Hannaford and Stop & Shop. Our associates support the brands with a wide range of services, including Finance, Legal, Sustainability, Commercial, Digital and E-commerce, Technology and more. This role will build and lead a team of software engineers and system analysts to deliver highly performant and scalable IT products and platforms to enable implementation and support of enterprise IT solutions, while driving best practices. As a people leader, the Solutions Engineering Manager will be accountable for the team's training, development and performance management. This individual will be accountable for driving a cohesive application strategy in collaboration with business partners. They will collaborate with internal teams to find areas of opportunities for automation and efficiencies while partnering with architects, product owners, and software engineers to drive the build and implementation of new applications and integration with SaaS, COTS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Take technology ownership of systems and platforms with low to medium complexity.
  • Hire and develop talent to build, enhance and support systems with low to medium complexity.
  • Lead a team of software engineers, leads and analysts to create an engaged, productive work environment.
  • Responsible for the design, configuration, integration and implementation of IT solutions to deliver on business and IT objectives.
  • Lead the team to deliver solutions that are customer focused, easy to consume and create sustained business value within budget.
  • Ensure team builds efficient and scalable applications utilizing best in class tools and services.
  • Deliver end-to-end solutions based on limited scope that are highly available, scalable, stable, secure, and cost effective.
  • Provide strong technical expertise to drive towards the right and practical solutions that meet the business needs within the required timelines.
  • Promote an effective team environment through mentoring, coaching and development of technical skills.
  • Facilitate communications and resolution activities with IT and business leaders when there is a support issue that materially impacts the business.
  • Manage application access reviews, extensions and renewals.
  • Additional job duties may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS or related (or equivalent related work experience).
  • 8 or more years of equivalent experience in relevant job or field of technology.
  • Experience in an advanced role or technical capacity, leading teams directly or indirectly.
  • Experience directly responsible for guiding, training or onboarding team members in relevant technologies, capabilities or skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with vendors and internal stakeholders effectively coupled with ability to influence others toward a common goal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and work under strict deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in relevant field of study, Additional trainings or certifications in relevant field of study.
  • Experience in Agile teams and Product/Platform based operating model.
  • Experience in leading teams or advancing technical capability in teams.
  • Experience in retail or grocery preferred.
