About the position
The Manager of Network Infrastructure/Telecommunications Services at Bethune-Cookman University is responsible for overseeing the university's cyberinfrastructure and telecommunications services. This role includes network planning, architecture, design, implementation, maintenance, and operational support. The manager will lead a team of network professionals, focusing on hiring, training, mentoring, and performance evaluations, while ensuring the effective management of network services in a Cisco environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the university's cyberinfrastructure and telecommunications services.
- Develop and maintain a 2 to 3 year strategic infrastructure plan.
- Manage day-to-day operational plans including firmware/software version control and disaster recovery testing.
- Oversee inventory control database records for hardware and software.
- Manage procurement and acquisition of software, services, and hardware.
- Develop and oversee change management and quality assurance processes.
- Monitor all projects including screening, scoping, scheduling, and documentation.
- Manage day-to-day workload and priorities against available resources.
- Develop wireless performance data and metrics to track user experiences.
- Continuously assess and improve 24x7 monitoring infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain B-CU Security Policy and assess security environment.
- Directly supervise the Network Infrastructure Team, including training and directing work.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent relevant work experience.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in a technical role with increasing responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of IT administration and infrastructure services.
- Hands-on experience in design, implementation, and support of layered network models.
- In-depth knowledge of BGP in an enterprise environment.
- Experience with layer 2 protocols and structured cabling systems.
- Understanding of transport technologies including dark-fiber and DWDM.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Prior experience supporting higher education environments.
