About the position

This position is responsible for overall project management within the guidelines of the USDE as published in EDGAR. The individual will provide supervision of staff and perform activities required to accomplish all stated project objectives. The role includes assuring the maintenance of adequate eligibility documentation on participants and maintaining complete records of compliance with Talent Search regulations. The position also involves overseeing the accumulation of evaluation data for the Upward Bound project, including monthly progress reports and other records of performance. The individual will work with the Dean of Workforce Development, Institutional Effectiveness, and Advancement in the evaluation of the program, serve as a liaison officer with community agencies, and develop a rapport with principals and counselors of area schools to facilitate program success. Additionally, the role requires coordinating the recruiting and screening of eligible participants in target schools, coordinating program activities to ensure that project objectives are met in accordance with proposed timelines, and coordinating trips to various college campuses. The individual will maintain a monthly budget and work with the business office to review expenditures, as well as coordinate the accumulation of evaluation data of the Talent Search project. The position also involves maintaining documentation/reports of participants for program eligibility, working with staff to inform the public of services to recruit and select new Talent Search participants, and serving as an advocate for project graduates seeking admission to postsecondary education programs. The individual will identify, employ, train, and supervise project personnel as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in education, counseling, social work or related field from an accredited institution, required
  • A minimum of three years' experience working with youth from educationally and financially disadvantaged backgrounds, required
