About the position

The Engineering Manager role at Nordstrom focuses on leading the Inventory Visibility Transactions organization, which is responsible for developing the Inventory Ledger and Stock-On-Hand systems for enterprise use. Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple related teams within the Inventory Visibility Transactions organization.
  • Define KPIs, roadmaps, and priorities for the unit.
  • Drive changes across teams to align technical strategy and manage dependencies.
  • Enhance organizational vision and strategy to support company goals with guidance from senior leaders.
  • Ensure teams have the necessary tools, resources, and information for success.
  • Hire and develop capable talent and teams to deliver solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Contribute to architecture, coding, test plans, project plans, deployment planning, and operations.
  • Employ continuous improvement methodologies to enhance productivity and customer focus.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams; experience managing other managers is a plus.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or a closely related degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven track record of shipping well-designed systems built for scale and tested for performance.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies, such as AWS, is a plus.
  • Good understanding of dev-ops best practices, CI/CD, alerting, monitoring, A/B testing, and production support.
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies, such as SCRUM or Kanban.
