About the position

The Manager of Technology for the Zarb School of Business and Assistant Director of Graduate Business Career Relations at Hofstra University is a pivotal role that combines technology management with career development support for graduate business students. Reporting to the Executive Director of Graduate Business Career Relations, this position is responsible for overseeing the technology resources of the Zarb School, including the Core Skills Lab, and assisting the Graduate Business Career Relations Office with data management and survey responses. The role is designed to enhance the educational experience of MBA, MS, EMBA, Online MBA, and JD/MBA students by providing them with the necessary tools and support for career development, employment, and internship opportunities. Additionally, the position involves representing and promoting the Zarb School of Business to potential employers and alumni communities. In this role, the Manager of Technology will also support faculty and departmental technology needs, ensuring that the technology used in classrooms and for curriculum delivery is effective and up-to-date. The position may require additional evening and weekend hours to support special projects, travel, and events, reflecting the dynamic nature of the responsibilities involved. The successful candidate will be expected to develop innovative strategies for data collection and analysis, manage various technology systems, and contribute to the overall strategic vision of the Graduate Business Career Services. The Manager will also play a key role in training faculty on classroom technology, managing the Microsoft EXCEL certification program for students, and overseeing the operations of the Core Skills Lab. This includes hiring and supervising student aides, maintaining lab resources, and conducting presentations to various stakeholders. The position requires a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the technology resources of the Zarb School of Business, including the Core Skills Lab.
  • Assist the Graduate Business Career Relations Office with data management and survey responses.
  • Support faculty and departmental technology needs.
  • Provide training for faculty in classroom technology and other systems within Zarb.
  • Liaise with Hofstra ITS to facilitate Zarb needs regarding equipment and software.
  • Manage the Microsoft EXCEL certification for Zarb students and assist students with certification exams.
  • Present periodic reports to the Dean's Office on the EXCEL certification at Zarb.
  • Oversee the operations of the Core Skills Lab, including hiring and supervising student aides.
  • Maintain lab hours and conduct presentations and demonstrations to faculty, students, and visitors.
  • Maintain lab resources and equipment, and identify new resources for the Core Skills Lab.
  • Analyze and interpret data, generate analytics, and communicate results to internal leadership and external benchmarking.
  • Design, implement, and manage innovative strategies for data collection processes.
  • Gather, prepare, and summarize information through survey tools.
  • Recommend statistical approaches and conduct analysis at regular intervals.
  • Serve as the lead administrator for graduate business career services technology, data, and reporting.
  • Manage the tracking of academic internship registration.
  • Manage the Handshake System for registration and tracking of student activities and employer outreach.
  • Implement promotional and marketing strategies for technology tools.
  • Create, administer, and analyze surveys to gauge satisfaction and outcomes.
  • Plan, implement, and coordinate advertising of events/programs using social media and internal systems.
  • Assist in managing business-specific spaces and software.
  • Assist the Dean's Office with special technology projects.
  • Contribute to the strategic vision and goal setting for graduate business career services.
  • Train and develop students in career development workshops and orientations.
  • Develop and manage event planning for career-related events and seminars.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group career coaching to students and alumni.
  • Track the progress of internship and full-time career outcomes of graduate students.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Five or more years' experience in industry, consulting, or higher education administration.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Skilled technologist able to collaborate with faculty on leveraging existing tools.
  • Ability to administer and interpret various career assessments.
  • Proficient in data analytics and metrics.
  • Team player in a high functioning department with shifting priorities.
