About the position

At RWE Clean Energy, the Portfolio Controlling team is responsible for the oversight of RWECE's obligations to third party investors under tax equity and partnership agreements. The Manager, Portfolio Controlling position works closely with external customers in a consultative manner, as well as across internal departments to set expectations and facilitate problem solving. The ideal candidate has proven leadership experience, is customer service focused, communicates collaboratively, and is knowledgeable of financing agreements within the renewable energy industry. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the financial obligations to external partners are met and that the company maintains strong relationships with its financing parties. The responsibilities of the Manager, Portfolio Controlling include reviewing financial agreement obligation deliverables to external partners related to Tax Equity/JV deals, which encompass monthly operating reports, cash distributions, tax equity flip models, and annual production (PAYGO) reports. The manager will also assist with guidance on the annual project budget process and maintain relationships with external financing parties. Participation in calls with these parties to discuss project-level operational and financial performance, as well as commercial issues, is also a key aspect of the role. The manager will coordinate responses to questions from external financing parties in a timely and professional manner, ensuring effective external communication. Collaboration across business groups is essential to maintain compliance with financing agreements and support overarching strategic and commercial business topics related to external financing parties. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for developing and mentoring junior team members, ensuring that the team is well-equipped to handle the demands of the role. Updating valuations for proposed tax equity buyouts is another critical responsibility, requiring a strong understanding of financial modeling and valuations in the renewable energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Review financial agreement obligation deliverables to external partners related to Tax Equity/JV deals, including monthly operating reports, cash distributions, tax equity flip models, annual production (PAYGO) reports, etc.
  • Assist with guidance on annual project budget process.
  • Maintain relationships with external financing parties.
  • Review materials for and participate on calls with external financing parties to discuss project-level operational and financial performance and commercial issues.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Tax or a related field, or equivalent professional experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience, preferably in the renewable industry.
  • Experience with Tax Equity Financing, Financial Modeling and Valuations is preferred.
  • Takes ownership of work and seeks guidance when direction is needed.
  • Effective communicator capable of working with people from a diverse set of backgrounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, energetic and a self-starter.
  • Proactive in resolving issues.
  • Strong business acumen and a sound understanding of business concepts.
  • High Attention to detail.
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams.
  • Clear passion and motivation to work in the renewables industry.
