About the position

The Principal Giving Manager will support the Principal Giving West team within USA Philanthropy at the International Rescue Committee (IRC). This role involves managing high-net-worth donor relationships, collaborating closely with frontline officers, and implementing strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward a defined portfolio of IRC prospects and donors. The position offers significant growth opportunities in front-line fundraising and requires effective communication and coordination across various teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with assigned Officer(s) to implement strategies for high-net-worth individuals in their portfolios.
  • Draft correspondence to support Officer interactions with donors, including letters and contact reports.
  • Ensure completeness of payment documents for bank transactions in compliance with IRC and donor policies.
  • Assist in creating materials, agendas, and briefings for external meetings and internal strategy sessions.
  • Supervise and manage expectations for each donor and prospect, adhering to stewardship reporting requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between donors or prospects and field staff, ensuring clear communication of critical information.
  • Collaborate with teams like Prospect Research, Analytics, and Operations to manage the donor cycle for Principal Giving West.
  • Update the donor database (Salesforce) to maintain portfolio assignments and manage donor communications.
  • Manage information flows between donors, program staff, and Officers.
  • Supervise internal drafting and approval processes for proposals, reports, and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues and IRC program/support staff globally.
  • Undertake special projects as advised.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent 2-3 years of previous work experience in development, fundraising, non-profit, marketing, or sales.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with quality products.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with relevant technologies and tools, with excellent analytical skills.
  • Understanding of the role of written communications in building relationships.
  • Ability to identify, build, and implement processes for effective donor relationships.
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain professional relationships internally and externally.
  • Highly computer literate, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with CRM databases like Salesforce.
  • Ability to respond quickly to changes in short-term work priorities.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Dedication to fundraising for international development and humanitarian causes.
  • Understanding of the US fundraising marketplace.
