About The Position

The Manager of SEC Reporting at Calpine Corporation is responsible for overseeing the financial reporting team, ensuring the accurate preparation and timely filing of SEC submissions, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K. This role requires strong management skills, extensive knowledge of the accounting close process, and experience in SEC reporting. The manager will also supervise the preparation of financial reporting schedules and assist with debt compliance reporting and special projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business or Accounting.
• 5-10 years of experience in financial reporting or a related area.
• Management experience in a financial reporting environment.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.

• Experience with technical accounting and debt compliance reporting.
• Familiarity with financial analysis and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, prepare, review, and timely file all SEC submissions including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and interactive data files.
• Oversee and ensure proper accounting for all debt and debt transactions.
• Supervise the preparation and timely completion of quarterly financial reporting schedules, including debt-related schedules and non-GAAP performance measures.
• Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly earnings releases.
• Delegate responsibilities while remaining hands-on in producing deliverables on time.
• Assist with debt compliance reporting and special projects as assigned.
• Ensure quality and timeliness of all SEC reporting responsibilities, balancing workload among personnel.
• Resolve issues involving reporting and personnel, including technical research and deadlines.
• Communicate with internal and external parties regarding financial reporting and technical research.
• Train new personnel and provide ongoing training for existing staff.
• Provide timely feedback and evaluations to staff.
