About The Position

The Manager of Supplier Process Engineering at Intuitive Surgical is responsible for leading a team of Supplier Engineers focused on introducing new products into production and sustaining existing products for the Multiport business unit. This role requires a deep understanding of supplier manufacturing processes, quality management, and the ability to solve complex issues while developing supplier quality systems. The successful candidate will manage supplier relationships, ensure compliance with quality management systems, and drive continuous improvement in supplier performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 8 years of related experience in Manufacturing, Operations, Supplier Quality, or Supplier Development, preferably in a medical device context.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience leading supplier development or supplier quality engineering teams.
  • Proven ability to lead teams to solve complex technical and process problems.
  • Proficient in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques; certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of document management systems and ERP Systems, preferably Agile and SAP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentations to executives.
  • Outstanding analytical skills along with good judgment.
  • Excellent Project Management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a high-volume medical device company.
  • Medical Device, Automotive, or Aerospace experience is a plus.
  • Application knowledge in SAP, Agile, EDW, Tableau, iValua, Smartsheet.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of supplier engineers in strategic supplier selection, evaluation, development, and improvement.
  • Develop and implement a robust long-term supplier strategy for the product family.
  • Select and evaluate suppliers that fit the supplier strategy and influence stakeholders to maximize the use of the production supply base.
  • Ensure suppliers comply with the Intuitive quality management system.
  • Manage quality and lead the team in mitigating business risks and challenges.
  • Support the team in completing Production Part Qualification deliverables: pFMEA, Special Process Validations, FAI, and Process Capability Analysis.
  • Manage the planning and implementation of supplier change management projects using the Supplier Change Request process (SCR).
  • Develop and use measurement techniques for supplier part quality, capability, cost, capacity, and delivery.
  • Identify and investigate opportunities for cost reduction and quality improvement.
  • Drive the supply base to continually improve their business and manufacturing process performance.
  • Review, analyze, and close non-conformances and first article inspections.
  • Facilitate, influence, and work cross-functionally to improve supplier engineering processes.
