About the position

The position involves operating various machine shop tools, including manual mills, lathes, and grinders, to meet safety, quality, and production standards. The role is primarily focused on running less complex jobs under supervision while learning to handle more complex tasks over time. Responsibilities

• Review procedures, work orders, blueprints, and set-up sheets, and receive verbal work instructions.
• Plan job layout with minimal set-ups and gather required tooling and fixturing.
• Calculate speeds, feeds, depths of cuts, and tapers for machining.
• Identify material types and perform hardness testing.
• Operate assigned machines while meeting safety, quality, and production standards.
• Log run and setup times, and perform additional operations on products such as cleaning and deburring.
• Use measuring devices to check part dimensions and complete inspection documentation.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and cleaning on assigned machines.
• Stock and inventory tooling, fixtures, and jigs, maintaining an organized work center.

Requirements

• Ability to work from drawings and oral instructions.
• Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of basic tools and metals.
• Knowledge of inspection gauges and equipment.
• Ability to inspect parts using various measuring tools such as Vernier's and micrometers.
• Basic computer skills for time, production, and quality recording.
• Ability to operate manual mills, lathes, and grinders.
• Good communication skills and a team player attitude.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in an OEM food, pharmaceutical, or semiconductor part fabrication and assembly environment.
