About the position

We are looking for a Design Engineer to support our team by being responsible for gathering and acting on feedback from key stakeholders in order to support quality and production goals in multiple departments, which could include new product development, continuous improvement projects, and DFMA activities. As a Trex Design Engineer, you will create and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models in order to enhance and drive performance to the next level. This role is a key member of our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and lead cross-functional teams in order to gather feedback and identify opportunities for improvement through the modification of existing mechanical designs or the creation of new designs.
  • Provide technical assistance to Process Engineers and Technicians to solve problems and optimize performance.
  • Create 2D/3D part drawings and models from physical parts and engineering communications.
  • Modeling and analysis: tolerances, stack-up, etc.
  • Rapid prototyping through modeling and 3-D printing.
  • Support change management processes and procedures.
  • Manage prioritization of activities to meet multiple project timeline requirements.
  • Coordinate the execution of work sourced through vendors.
  • Plan and execute special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Three or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment with emphasis on design and optimization.
  • Working knowledge of tolerances and fits required.
  • Working knowledge of problem-solving techniques required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of 2D/3D CAD packages required, as well as the ability to stay current with industry best practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the United States.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience interfacing with machining departments preferred.
  • AutoCAD and Solidworks experience preferred.
