About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer plays a crucial role in developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods. They utilize their expertise in products, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, assembly processes, and production equipment to ensure quality products are delivered to the customer. The Manufacturing Engineer is also a key member of the Continuous Improvement team working across all aspects of the design and manufacturing process while assuring the optimization of the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Work across all business lines (Nuclear, Mods, and ETO) within the Engineered Solutions BU
  • Implement and conduct design reviews focusing on Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM&A)
  • Implement accurate routings for manufacturing operations and analyze data for improvements
  • Support manufacturing teams as a subject matter expert
  • Work with and support Subcontract Manufacturing Manager to support vendor onboarding and development
  • Spearhead the NCR process from the manufacturing side and drive continuous improvements
  • Support all departments as a manufacturing subject matter expert
  • Be a problem solver with a focus on risk mitigation and cost containment
  • Develop and implement work instructions for subcontractors to assist in common processes and quality control
  • Resolve issues and prevent delays in production
  • Find ways to reduce costs and maximize quality by designing, deploying, and validating new manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes, with emphasis on standardized work
  • Collaborate with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange equipment, parts, or material purchases
  • Estimate production times and related costs to provide information for management decisions
  • Analyze manufacturing process flows to enhance quality and identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Act as a conduit between manufacturing personnel, purchasing, project management and engineering to ensure project requirements are met
  • Complete any special projects as assigned by supervisor/manager
