About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer will work in an advisory capacity to manufacturing, engineering, and/or purchasing departments using knowledge of methods and materials in manufacturing to optimize cost and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of time and motion, methods, estimating, process engineering, and plant layout for assigned areas to ensure balanced methods and available capacity to meet customer demand.
  • Implement factory manufacturing processes, systems, equipment, and materials in terms of their associated cost, time, ergonomics, quality, and quantity factors.
  • Assist in recommended changes, collect information for capital justifications, and participate in the design of new manufacturing processes, systems, equipment, and materials to contribute to the assigned area's short- and long-term economic objectives.
  • Write and distribute manufacturing changes and associated operating work instructions to all affected personnel on the shop floor and train operators on the product and process changes.
  • Tracks submitted requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Update routings and manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM) with direction from the manager.
  • Produce, publish, and vault complete documentation for all tools.
  • Review engineering designs to estimate tool and manufacturing costs.
  • Identify design changes to maximize economical manufacturing.
  • Prepare justifications and make recommendations for the procurement of new machines and equipment.
  • Assist and train employees in the proper installation of the equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing or Engineering related field.
  • Product knowledge is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • 0-2+ years' experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience preferred with Green Belt or Black Belt training or certification.
  • Less than 10% travel.
