About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer II leads initiatives for the daily support of products, processes, materials, and equipment, is responsible for leading solutions to meet site goals (i.e., safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity). This individual will be required to routinely partner with cross-functional and cross-site teams to evaluate, troubleshoot, implement, and improve manufacturing processes within the business unit.

Responsibilities

  • Works cooperatively with R&D, Process Development, Quality, Production, Regulatory, Equipment Engineering, Supply Chain, and Marketing on complex projects to ensure project success.
  • Consistently generates innovative and unique solutions to meet department goals.
  • Successfully completes engineering work, typically including the following activities: technology development, test of materials or products, preparation of specifications, Six Sigma, process study, process improvements, and report preparation.
  • Selects process improvement techniques to solve complex problems and make sound equipment and process recommendations.
  • Designs and coordinates applicable engineering tests and experiments.
  • Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from test results.
  • Designs and prepares engineering reports and communicates results to the technical and leadership audiences.
  • Coordinates, manages, and documents project goals and progress and recommends appropriate revisions.
  • Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment.
  • Leads cross-functional project teams.
  • Leads in the identification, implementation, and management of Business Unit goals and actively contributes to development of Business Unit's multi-year strategy.
  • In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline required
  • 1-3 years of manufacturing, process, or related engineering experience
  • Experience solving technical problems
  • Experience qualifying equipment (i.e. FAT/SAT, IQ OQ PQ)
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong bias for action and ability to effectively prioritize work and deliver business results in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment are critical
  • Practical understanding of manufacturing problem solving and process improvement tools such as 6-step problem solving, DMAIC, and production flow tools used in Lean manufacturing
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working under ISO 13485 or ISO 9001 standards
  • Experience with Windchill or similar PLM software
  • Experience in both 3D and 2D CAD software
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical assembly
  • Direct or indirect people leadership experience and managing projects
