About the position

Our Electrical Integration Engineers drive solutions for the real-time installation of flight harnessing, avionics, and instrumentation; from conceptual ideation to the final installation. You will conceptualize and deliver complex assemblies & systems. Your technical responsibilities vary from the design & development of new products, to supporting complex engineering challenges throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will anticipate successes and failures, utilizing your amazing inter-personal skills to communicate seamlessly through cross-functional teams to achieve our collaborative goals; 'One Team, One Dream.' As a part of our growing Satellites and Spacecraft Systems Manufacturing Engineering Team, you will be the tip of the spear for establishing new products and production lines. Sierra Space achieves on the shoulders of amazing humans, empowered to continuously improve with expert-level agility, reasoning, and execution. Our engineers research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy and improve cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated Aerospace vehicle, to orbital laboratories, and space exploration systems.

Responsibilities

  • Practice lifecycle ownership relative to electrical integration
  • Provide direct, shop floor, engineering support for electrical & mechanical integration, testing, logistics, and launch phases.
  • Work in tandem with design engineers from concept to final installation, driving continuous improvement
  • Utilize cross-functional resources to drive development of the production schedule, part demand and delivery, GSE, and tooling.
  • Prioritize industry standard, best-practice, and aerospace knowledge to drive well-thought, lean, and functional processes
  • Utilize team-based thinking, and excellent inter-personal skills to ideate with other subject matter experts, engineers, technicians to solve issues
  • Support engineering documentation review and execution to include drafting, revising, alteration, and closure of nominal / off-nominal work instructions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience
  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary teams

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NASA-STD-8739 Series and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620-Space or equivalent
  • Experience operating within ISO 14644-1 environments
  • Experience / familiarity operating within ESD sensitive environments common to best industry practice. ANSI 20.20 or equivalent
  • Familiarity in applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
  • Knowledge industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes
  • Participation in dispositions of Non-Conformance generation through a Material Review Board (MRB)
  • Experience with new product introduction and transition to production
  • Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems
  • Knowledge of industry-standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing, and production processes
  • An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is preferred
