Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for assigned production manufacturing process design and sustainment for safe, quality-focused, efficient, and cost-effective results.
Responsibilities
Create and maintain safe, efficient and accurate layout plan based on local standards.
Proactively maintain appropriate line balance based on current state demand volumes.
Drive standard work processes/work instructions. Update for best known method to drive Safety, Quality and Throughput. Maintain dataset for each discrete operation (Cycle Times, Job-Difficulty Rating, # of Workstations, Safety Score, etc.)
Understand (at all times) assigned product line capacities at current and future demand volumes and all natural break points. Understand and work towards alleviating process and equipment constraints to growth.
Establish and maintain accurate work content through standard time studies.
Teach Lean Principles and Engineering Best Practices to drive continual improvements to manufacturing and supporting processes throughout the team.
Urgent response to line disruption issues. Drive root cause analysis (RCA) to accurate solutions and control improvements.
Kaizen event leader and designer
Mentor for less experienced engineers
Drive continual improvement to operational metrics (Cycle Times, Sq. Ft., Downtime, OEE/OPE, Work Content, Labor $/Unit, Material $/Unit, units/person, etc.) through process equipment development, material consumption reduction, process improvement, and other personal initiatives.
Provide communications and/or presentations to customers, suppliers, vendors and internal stakeholders on problems solving, initiative results, improvement proposals and other topics.
Capture and deliver feedback and recommendations for cost reductions, manufacturability enhancements to design of product, capital projects and other initiatives.
Provide manufacturing expertise for product development under Design for Manufacturing methods and standards.
Input to bid and proposal activities as needed.
Represent manufacturing in cross-departmental activities such as MRB, design reviews, failure analysis, Kaizen events and Value Stream Mapping.
Requirements
Must be a US Citizen
Ability to work independently but in a collaborative nature.
Ability to speak or present in front of a group.
Ability to forward think and connect concepts to business impact as a whole.
Ability to drive impactful change with little direction/instruction.
Hands-on experience with time study and drafting software applications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
May require the ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance.
Nice-to-haves
4-year degree from an accredited university in Engineering or related field OR a combination of education and relevant experience
4-6 years related work experience minimum
Experience with Lean Six-Sigma required; Green Belt+ certification preferred
Project management experience preferred
