Manufacturing Engineer Intern - Summer 2025

About the position

ITW Shakeproof has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at our Elgin facility. This position is a paid internship for the summer of 2025, based in our Elgin, IL plant, and will report directly to a Manufacturing Engineer. The primary deliverables are to support die redesign and segment part manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design, development process improvements of new and existing products and equipment.
• Drive improvement in manufacturing processes through the use of Lean principles.
• Conduct ongoing analyses manufacturing processes to identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
• Assist in new product development and modifications and revisions to existing products.
• Participate in coordination and implementation of capital projects.
• Investigate and install new methods, layouts, equipment and process analysis that improve overall operation of the plant.
• Develop and implement standardization of processes.
• Assist in troubleshooting processes which are prone to be frequent or major production problems.
• Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Student (incoming freshman to senior)
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated with a high attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills and project management abilities
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with others

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with AutoCAD is a plus
