The Manufacturing Engineer Internship is designed to support assigned manufacturing engineering activities as directed by the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor and designated Manufacturing Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Work effectively as a cell team member to ensure operational metrics are achieved and any remedial action is actively pursued.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering support and services within assigned manufacturing cell(s).
  • Maintain current updates on manufacturing engineering related tasks on the manufacturing cell log.
  • Design or specify any equipment/tooling/racking required to support manufacturing.
  • Review relevant engineering change orders (ECOs) within assigned cells or assigned option groups and support all aspects of production implementation.
  • Implement and facilitate lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, value stream mapping, set-up reduction etc.).
  • Assist with assigning default locators to parts within assigned manufacturing cells.
  • Help update standard work instructions and assist with training as assigned.
  • Help update and maintain layouts (plant & cell layouts, inventory, housekeeping, emergency, and security maps, etc.).
  • Participate with continuous improvement and teamwork.
  • Conduct observations as assigned to ensure that assigned time standards are fair and consistent.
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings as assigned, to assist with the disposition of non-conforming materials.

Requirements

  • Engaged in 4 year Engineer - Manufacturing, Industrial, or Electrical engineering degree.
  • Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working as an effective team player.
  • Superior computer, organizational, and communications skills.
  • Goal orientated and motivated to achieve tasks within set timelines.
  • Auto CAD or UniGraphics, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel experience.
