As a Manufacturing Engineer - TDM (Tool Data Management) Machining Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the Manufacturing Engineering/Programming team. The Manufacturing Engineering team works with a variety of departments and develops the Manufacturing operations to setup and machine a variety of gears and parts. Activities will include working with Manufacturing Engineers on cost savings and process improvement projects, and building of tools and tool lists associated with programs and developing work instructions for Tool Data Management with the Manufacturing Engineer/Programmer. This onsite position will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee's Harbor District. The target start date for this role is Summer 2025 and has potential to be extended into the Fall 2025 school semester. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Operators on cost savings and process improvement projects for CNC Lathes, Boring Bars and Mills
  • Develop Work Instructions for TDM
  • Collect, inventory, and update machining tools and accessories for Tool Books for specific machines
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering with TDM (Tool Data Management) with MES, Barcode, NC Program Mgr. & Fastenal tool stocking

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related major from an accredited college or university
  • Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or master's level student in good academic standing
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team towards a goal
  • Excellent organization and personal time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess effective problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to be creative and resourceful when needed
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous classroom and/or work experience in SolidWorks (CAD)
  • Previous classroom and/or work experience in one or more of the following areas of Programming Software is a bonus: MasterCAM, CAMWorks, Esprit, and so on
  • Interest in or aptitude to learn about careers in the heavy equipment industry
  • Hands-on machining experience is beneficial
