About the position

This position is located in our small, but growing, manufacturing and overhaul/repair facility located in Greenville. We primarily manufacture and overhaul components for the transit industry (subway and commuter rail). As a member of Transtech, you will be responsible for planning and designing manufacturing processes in our production facility, supporting production issues, continuous improvement, and safety activities.

Responsibilities

  • Supports safety initiatives and training of new and existing employees to ensure a safe work environment is always present.
  • Identify safety hazards and lead/support resolution activities.
  • Designs fixtures, jigs and other equipment as needed to include 3D models, Detailed Drawings and Work Instructions for use.
  • Create detailed work instructions in MES.
  • Leads VSM and Kaizen events in support of process improvements.
  • Tracks KPI’s for the department as assigned.
  • Coordinates with other sites in the business unit to ensure best practices are shared and implemented.
  • Provide technical leadership, training and mentorship to production personnel and manufacturing team.
  • Support ECO completion in a timely manner.
  • Supports the capital planning and execution on a yearly basis including discovery of new processes and financial justifications.
  • Continual progression in available technologies and industry standards.
  • Time split between desk and shop floor.
  • Available for shop support.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering field with at least 3 years of manufacturing experience or an equivalent combination of relatable experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiarity and experience with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate technical concepts to all audiences.
  • Proficient with Solidworks and Autocad.
  • Experience with Oracle and MES systems.
  • Solid understanding of quality management systems including current ISO-9001 standard.
  • Ability to work effectively in and/or lead a cross functional team environment.
  • Strong analytical, time management and technical writing skills.
  • Proficient in the use of GD&T.
  • CNC machining experience preferred.
