Responsibilities

  • Apply standard engineering principles and analytical techniques to the design and development of manufacturing processes.
  • Oversee all activities related to supporting technical and manufacturing solutions.
  • Ensure that all engineering departmental objectives and activities are aligned to the Magna Employee Charter and Magna Corporate Constitution.
  • Coordinate major engineering projects and ensure on-time and in-budget completion of all deliverables.
  • Develop engineering solutions to the manufacturing process, synchronous manufacturing, and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Ensure performance measurables related to the engineering departments are on track with departmental Key Operating Indicators (KOI'S).
  • Develop processes, JES instructions, and select tooling/equipment to meet process capability, capacity, cost effectiveness, maintainability, and safety ergonomics.
  • Responsible for PFMEA development, process changes, and PFMEA updates.

Requirements

  • A university degree in engineering, technologist diploma in mechanical engineering or industrial engineering, or five to seven years engineering related experience in an automotive JIT, Tier 1 manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement processes/lean manufacturing concepts, methods, and principles.
  • Good understanding of time and motion studies.
  • Experience in understanding of capital and expense budgets.
  • Understanding of operational planning with strong project management skills.
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and other manufacturing related software.
  • Working knowledge of SPC and AutoCAD.
