About the position

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Philips, you will collaborate with R&D and operations to develop new processes and optimize designs for manufacturability and assembly. Your role will involve providing technical support and performing root cause analysis for design, process, and quality issues found on the production floor. You will be responsible for resolving manufacturing and quality problems, including yield and nonconforming products. Additionally, you will identify, analyze, and implement cost reduction and continuous improvement solutions through Lean methodologies. Working in partnership with other engineering team members, you will engage in all phases of the system development process, ensuring timely delivery of results to meet customer requirements. You will also publish documentation related to the release of systems to the production line, including process requirements, DfX, PFMEA, process validation, manufacturing control plans, and work instructions, while updating existing documentation as necessary. Domestic travel is expected up to 20%.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with R&D and operations to develop new processes and optimize designs for manufacturability and assembly.
  • Provide technical support and perform root cause analysis for design, process, and quality issues found on the production floor.
  • Resolve manufacturing and quality problems, including yield and nonconforming products.
  • Identify, analyze, and implement cost reduction and continuous improvement solutions through Lean methodologies.
  • Work in partnership with other engineering team members in all phases of the system development process.
  • Publish documentation related to the release of systems to the production line and update existing documentation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Advanced knowledge in manufacturing production processes.
  • Solid understanding of how modifications to current products and new ones affect throughput, quality, performance, and cost.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership in ambiguous situations.
  • Working knowledge of supply chain/manufacturing principles and implementation of Design for Excellence (DfX) inputs to designs.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Methods (Process Capability, SPC, Trend Analysis).
  • Strong analytical and methodical problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, or closely related discipline.
