About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing production support, incorporating process improvements to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost and leading capital projects. This role will be responsible for automated/semi-automated lines and MES systems for both assembly lines and test stands. This role will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and work daily out of the Easley, SC facility. Relocation support can be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Manage production releases, including the production part approval process for new product launches.
  • Create root cause problem solving techniques to improve first pass yield and reduce scrap.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing tools for productivity improvements.
  • Provide trouble shooting and related shop support using advanced quality tools.
  • Carry out special projects directed toward overcoming manufacturing problems considering lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Prepares standard work, process flow diagrams, time studies, process failure mode evaluation analysis capability studies and control plans in support of new product releases, cost reductions and product modifications.
  • Uses interdisciplinary tools such 8D Problem Solving and Value Stream Mapping to find cost effective solutions.
  • Specifies and develops the tooling and/or equipment necessary.
  • Responsible for determining the necessary sequence of operations needed to meet manufacturing, quality and cost requirements.
  • Identify capital equipment requirements and prepares Return of Investment (ROI) calculations.
  • Manages capital investment projects.
  • Train personnel in new processes, methods, and use of equipment.
  • Report progress on projects and activities.

Requirements

  • Must have a degree in Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering or degree in a related field of study.
  • Have a minimum of five years' experience in manufacturing processes with proven success in implementing processes or product improvements using advanced quality tools and/or lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Proven ability to understand finance, capital appropriations, and budgeting practices.
  • Proven ability to work in a team atmosphere and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Be self-motivated and eager to accept new responsibilities.
