About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Badger Meter is responsible for leading a cross-functional team to drive innovation and excellence in manufacturing processes. This role involves managing complex projects, optimizing manufacturing effectiveness, and ensuring alignment with corporate goals while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. The manager will play a key role in implementing advanced manufacturing technologies and sustainable practices, contributing significantly to the company's operational success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field required.
  • Over 7 years of experience in operations management, leadership, and engineering concepts.
  • Proven track record in driving continuous improvements, cost reductions, and process enhancements.
  • Expertise in value-added/value engineering and comprehensive product knowledge is highly desired.
  • Certified Leadership experience preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
  • Experience with AS 9100, ISO 9001, ISO 17025 certification process is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Manufacturing Engineering Department to align operations with budgetary and operational goals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Promote safety and environmental responsibility, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Implement sustainable manufacturing practices to minimize environmental impact.
  • Oversee new product development projects, ensuring they meet defined parameters.
  • Utilize project management methodologies to enhance project efficiency.
  • Investigate and implement advanced assembly, testing, and machining technologies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, including automation and smart manufacturing.
  • Communicate the organization's vision and strategies to department staff.
  • Control scope creep through strategic discussions with other department leaders.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews of direct reports.
  • Address and resolve conflicts between staff members.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for staff.
  • Ensure adherence to company internal control policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering principles.
  • Identify and integrate new trends and technologies to advance technical capabilities.
  • Develop product concepts using cutting-edge technologies and designs.
  • Define departmental goals and identify key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Collaborate with site leadership to create the annual plan and budget for the department.
  • Manage the team to meet annual objectives aligned with business strategy.
  • Identify and manage cost reduction and system improvement projects.
  • Prepare financial justifications for projects and assess financial viability.
