About the position

At Intuitive, we are committed to advancing the world of minimally invasive care through innovative technology and a diverse team. We are currently seeking interns for our Manufacturing teams for Summer 2025. This internship is designed for students currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering undergraduate or graduate programs. Interns will have the opportunity to work on substantive projects that can significantly impact the future of our business. The internship will last approximately 10-12 weeks, starting in May or June, and will require full-time availability (around 40 hours per week). Interns will be involved in various engineering tasks related to medical device development and surgical robotic systems, collaborating with multiple teams to provide updates and deliverables. Each intern will also present their project and lessons learned to the organization at the end of the internship. Internships may be available in several areas, including Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Equipment/Automation Engineering, Supplier Engineering, Failure Analysis Engineering, and Test/Validation Engineering. Each of these teams plays a crucial role in supporting the design, fabrication, testing, and maintenance of our products, ensuring that we meet the highest standards of quality and performance. Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering tasks related to medical device development and surgical robotic systems.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or relevant Engineering degree-seeking program at the Bachelor's level.
  • Availability to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience creating rapid prototypes and mock-ups.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including injection molding and machining.
  • Prior use of CAD to design components, assemblies, and mechanisms in SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with Matlab or Python.
