About the position

Our client in Hayward is seeking a Manufacturing Maintenance Technician to join the team. This is a full-time/direct hire opportunity. The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician supports the manufacturing plant by providing continuous, safe, and efficient operation of the plant through physical facilities, equipment, systems, and utilities. Previous experience in a food manufacturing facility is preferred. The role involves performing typical maintenance tasks to maintain the appearance and integrity of the facility, accurately recording and reporting work performed, and adhering to trade practices and codes. The technician will be responsible for general industrial maintenance, which includes the installation of appropriate equipment and devices to ensure proper operation. Maintenance tasks can include service and/or repair work on plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, motors, pumps, electrical systems, pneumatic tube systems, lighting, flooring, window coverings, walls, and other systems. The technician will also detect and report defective materials or conditions to the department supervisor and maintain the work area and facility in a clean and orderly condition, following prescribed safety regulations. Additionally, the technician will perform prescribed preventative maintenance on the building or grounds as required, demonstrating a thorough understanding of Sanitary and Food Safety Procedures and precautions, GMP's, and HACCP.

Responsibilities

  • Perform typical maintenance tasks to maintain the appearance and integrity of the facility.
  • Accurately record and report work performed.
  • Adhere to trade practices and codes.
  • Perform general industrial maintenance including installation of appropriate equipment and devices to ensure proper operation.
  • Service and/or repair work on plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, motors, pumps, electrical systems, pneumatic tube systems, lighting, flooring, window coverings, walls, and other systems.
  • Detect and report defective materials or conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Maintain work area and facility in a clean and orderly condition following prescribed safety regulations.
  • Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on the building or grounds as required.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical school education preferred.
  • Able to perform carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical (assist the facilities electrician), painting, and janitorial tasks.
  • Familiar with the use of hand tools and power tools common to the skills listed.
  • Well versed in the disciplines mentioned above.
  • Able to read and interpret drawings, sketches, OEM instructions, and specifications.
  • Comfortable working in a team environment consisting of co-workers and outside contractors.
  • Ability to use good judgment when performing and planning tasks.
  • Knowledge of LOTO, forklift safety, electrostatic discharge awareness, foreign object damage awareness, and quality system awareness.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (1 year preferred).
  • Mechanical knowledge (1 year preferred).
