About the position

We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes. This role ensures the successful first-time launch of new products while continuously improving existing processes to drive cost reductions, enhance quality, and minimize lead times. The ideal candidate will have expertise in CNC machining, welding, and various manufacturing methodologies, with a strong focus on Lean Manufacturing principles to boost efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes utilizing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) techniques.
  • Lead first-pass success initiatives by creating detailed process routings, tooling, gauging, and fixturing.
  • Drive continuous improvements across core manufacturing capabilities to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Oversee capital projects supporting business growth and market expansion.
  • Develop comprehensive manufacturing instructions (routers), including Bill of Materials (BOMs), process drawings, assembly instructions, and factory layout designs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure manufacturing processes align with technical requirements and customer specifications.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and cost reductions through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Implement engineering changes and recommend process modifications to optimize production performance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for new product qualification and launch.
  • Work closely with Operations, Planning, and Programming teams to align machining and tooling requirements.
  • Engage with customers to develop design-for-manufacture solutions that optimize performance and cost.
  • Provide accurate cost estimates for new and existing products based on process analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with CNC machining (3 & 5-axis mills, turning), EDM, gun drilling, welding, hydrostatic pressure testing, and heat treating.
  • Strong understanding of material behaviors throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), technical documentation, and quality control methodologies.
  • Experience with solid modeling software such as Creo, Inventor, or SolidWorks (preferred).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Visual MFG, Global Shop, JD Edwards preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, and SPC methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with weld engineering, procedure qualification, and additive manufacturing is a plus.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance.
  • 401(k) Savings Plan with Company Match.
