About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Corporate Tax Analyst & Sales Analyst to join our team at Skylight Business Solutions. This position is crucial for ensuring compliance with tax regulations and optimizing our tax strategies within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and tax preparation, with a keen eye for financial analysis and experience leading projects of varying size and complexity. The role requires proficiency in OneSource Tax Determination and Compliance, as well as certificate management software. As a Corporate Tax Analyst, you will conduct financial analysis, including reviewing and analyzing financial reports, accounts, and tax returns. You will analyze and interpret financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement. Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and tax returns, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions and tax filings. You will utilize accounting software, such as Quicken, to manage financial data and prepare financial reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP). In this role, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns and reconciliations. You will maintain exemption certificate software and tax determination applications, identify areas of exposure, and resolve any issues that arise. Additionally, you will assist with governmental sales and use tax audits and ensure that month-end close deadlines are met. You will also review the initial determination of taxation on purchase invoices, perform reverse audits where needed, and advise the Sales & Use Tax Supervisor on strategies for minimizing tax exposures. Technical research and documentation will also be part of your responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 3 years sales and use tax experience in Corporate Tax or Public Accounting.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with OneSource Tax Determination and Compliance.
  • Experience with certificate management software.
