About the position

The Manufacturing Technician serves as a vital technical assistant for Manufacturing Engineering, focusing on assigned responsibilities to enhance and innovate manufacturing processes. This role involves collaborating closely with the Manufacturing Engineer (ME) to plan, direct, and coordinate various manufacturing process initiatives aimed at maintaining and improving existing processes while also developing new ones. The technician will engage in a variety of tasks that require both technical expertise and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a manufacturing environment. In the capacity of a Process and Equipment Expert, the Manufacturing Technician will assist the ME in researching and determining effective processes and procedures. This includes creating and updating essential working documents, manufacturing instructions, equipment instructions, and ISO procedures. The technician will also be involved in creating and updating routings, as well as contributing to machine and process improvements. Basic programming on automated machines is also a key responsibility, along with reviewing and enhancing preventative maintenance programs for manufacturing equipment. The technician will support production technicians in performing high-level setups, adjustments of equipment, and minor repairs, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. As part of the Sustaining Engineering efforts, the technician will assist the ME in reviewing Engineering Changes (ECs) and Request for New Parts (RNPs) to ensure accurate drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and tooling information. Proactively implementing quality improvements to meet the team's quality goals is also a critical aspect of this role. The technician will be assigned to research, justify, and complete Design Change Requests (DCRs), seeking necessary approvals from sales as required. In alignment with Lean Manufacturing principles, the technician will champion Lean implementation, striving to improve the team's delivery performance, efficiency, and throughput through techniques such as Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, and Product Flow. Continuous improvement efforts will be driven by tracking productivity variance data and assisting the ME in developing, reviewing, and revising routing times. The technician will study time, motion, methods, and speed involved in maintenance, production, and other operations to establish or enhance standard production rates. Safety is a paramount concern, and the technician will assist the ME in implementing safety improvements to eliminate hazards. This includes completing timely and thorough investigations and corrective actions for all accidents and near misses in the assigned area. The Manufacturing Technician will also perform other related duties as assigned by management, contributing to a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.
