About the position

The Senior Tooling & Equipment Engineer will be responsible for designing and procuring tools for cab and vehicle assembly, ensuring seamless integration into operations with a focus on safety, quality, and cost efficiency. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, participation in new product development, and acting as a technical expert in major industrial projects. The engineer will also coach junior engineers and actively engage in performance improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design and procure tools for cab and vehicle assembly in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Benchmark existing equipment from other facilities and adapt for use.
  • Implement tooling and equipment with a 'zero disturbance' mindset in operations.
  • Apply tooling and maintenance standards and best practices when designing, re-designing, or purchasing new equipment.
  • Participate in new product development to provide inputs on tooling solutions.
  • Participate in major industrial projects as the technical expert for equipment installations.
  • Support EEM projects and design reviews throughout equipment development.
  • Actively participate in all pillars of the Performance System with special involvement in Safety, Quality, and Cost Deployment focus areas.
  • Perform kaizen and use problem-solving tools in PDCA cycle.
  • React to issues impacting production with a sense of urgency.
  • Participate in the global engineering networks to develop optimal process and tool designs.
  • Coach and train junior tooling engineers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Tooling and Equipment Engineering experience.
  • Experience in Catia, Creo, and AutoCAD - working knowledge of 2D/3D engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of ENOVIA, Windchill, or other PDM Systems.
  • Cost estimates & business case experience.
  • Ergonomic standards and practical application.
  • General awareness of OSHA guidelines and standards, ISO, ANSI.
  • GD&T knowledge and practical experience.
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in Excel, PowerBI, PowerPoint, OneNote, Word, and other O365 apps.
