About the position

Hogan Lovells is a leading global law firm, providing business-oriented legal advice and high-quality service across its breadth of practices to clients around the world. Our dynamic Marketing and Business Development (MandBD) team is seeking the right candidate to serve as the MandBD Specialist for our Northeast Region. This position will support, plan, and execute the high-profile, business-critical marketing and BD activities of the Northeast Americas regional offices, including Washington D.C., Baltimore, Northern Virginia, Philadelphia, New York, and Boston by working directly with key internal stakeholders and MandBD colleagues across the region. They will report into the Senior MandBD Manager, D.C. and Northeast Region to help execute a structured approach to marketing campaigns and profile raising, targeting, client development, pitching, and knowledge development across the practices. The MandBD Specialist will be responsible for marketing and business development planning and budgeting, supporting the development and execution of the MandBD elements of the Americas business plan. This includes delivering market research, client analysis, and internal intelligence to support the business planning process. The specialist will lead coordination efforts between regional, sector, and practice teams to facilitate cross-office opportunities within the business plans. They will also develop, manage, and implement office MandBD activities and budgets, working closely with the Regional Senior MandBD Manager, Office Managing Partners (OMPs), and Office Administrative Partners (OAPs) as required. In terms of client targeting, pitches, and credentials, the specialist will coordinate with the Clients and Sectors teams on identifying and supporting client targeting efforts for Focus 50 and Sector Priority Clients led out of the Northeast Regional offices. This includes assisting with partner roadshows and setting up client meetings, as well as providing background research, strategy, client briefings, and competitor analysis documents in preparation for pitches and other client meetings. The specialist will act as a client account manager for one or two of the firm's key clients led out of the region and conduct client feedback activities such as post-matter reviews and client service reviews. The role also involves profile raising, events, and sponsorships. The specialist will read industry, legal, and business publications to remain aware of regional trends, events, and conferences to identify promotional opportunities. They will contribute to drafting, reviewing, collating, and updating relevant regional entries in legal award submissions and league tables, and liaise with the firm's communications team on public relations and media relations activities relevant to the office. Additionally, the specialist will lead and support regional client events, seminars, programs, and sponsorships, ensuring that the firm maximizes return on its investment. In terms of MandBD infrastructure, operations, and internal communications, the specialist will assist in the creation and regular maintenance of key MandBD resources, produce internal communications including electronic newsletters and bulletins, and encourage effective use of the firm's CRM databases and social media database. The specialist will also contribute to wider MandBD projects and deal with ad hoc inquiries about regional offices and key clients from other parts of the firm or members of the MandBD team. Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location, and services.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the communications team on public relations and media relations activities.
  • Lead and support regional client events, seminars, programs, and sponsorships.
  • Evaluate and manage regional sponsorships to maximize return on investment.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of key MandBD resources on the global intranet.
  • Produce internal communications including newsletters and bulletins.
  • Encourage effective use of the firm's CRM databases and social media database.
  • Contribute to wider MandBD projects and handle ad hoc inquiries about regional offices and key clients.

Requirements

  • Experience in marketing and business development within a professional services environment, preferably in a law firm.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Proficiency in market research and client analysis techniques.
  • Ability to develop and implement marketing strategies and campaigns.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and marketing databases.
