About The Position

The Master Carpenter is responsible for maintaining buildings and structures in accordance with PISD standards. This position requires a high level of skill in carpentry and the ability to perform various tasks related to the maintenance and repair of facilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Texas driver's license and meet and maintain insurance requirements of PISD.
• Must pass initial drug test and be part of random drug testing program.
• Must pass criminal history.
• Knowledge and developed skills in all phases of carpentry.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret diagrams.
• Skilled on the maintenance and use of the tools, equipment, and materials of the trade.
• Minimum ten years' experience as a carpenter preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prep and install slab doors.
• Install hollow metal and aluminum doors and door frames.
• Build, apply finish, and install cabinets.
• Perform minor and major repairs to all facilities.
• Repair and install lay-in ceilings.
• Repair/replace doors and door closures.
• Coordinate project assignment with other personnel and other crafts as required.
• Install plastic laminate.
• Install door hardware.
• Frame wall and install drywall.
• Tape and float drywall.
• Fabricate and repair wooden decks.
• Prepare cost estimates and material orders.
• Must have working knowledge of computer systems in regard to email, time entry, and work orders.
• Must be willing to respond to occasional after hour emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Starting salary of $147.36 per day.
• 240 duty days.
