About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for the accurate reception, storage management, and issuing of all finished goods and raw materials in a food manufacturing environment. This entry-level position involves operating forklifts and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards while maintaining an organized workspace.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; must work effectively with others.
  • Ability to multi-task while being detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining productive at all times.
  • Knowledge of warehouse and lift trucks experience preferred.
  • Excellent attendance and dependability.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to include overtime and weekends on short notice.
  • Proficient personal computer skills (MS Office applications - Word, Office, Excel).
  • Ability to read and write in the English language.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

Nice To Haves

  • SAP knowledge preferred.
  • Working knowledge of computers and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, move, count/pick, stack, and stage product and materials using a sit down or stand-up forklift as required.
  • Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • Inspect any assigned equipment on a daily basis.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following work methods and OSHA standards.
  • Drive electric powered devices such as forklifts and elevating platforms to lift or stack products or materials.
  • Assist in maintaining and promoting the safety of the warehouse.
  • Report issues and problems to management.
  • Support and abide by the company's safety program and all safety initiatives, policies, and procedures.
  • Accurately pull and prepare materials using the first in first out (FIFO) methodology for production orders.
  • Fill out all documentation correctly and clearly.
  • Inspect all materials during picking, shipping, and receiving to ensure product number accuracy and that materials are free of damage.
  • Follow daily production schedule and achieve specified goals.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) training, along with company pre-requisite programs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP's).
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
