About the position

The Chemical Engineering/Materials Science Engineering co-op position at Collins Aerospace is designed for students pursuing a degree in a relevant field. This role involves working closely with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to assist in materials and process evaluations, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, and contributing to quality assurance efforts. The co-op will gain hands-on experience in materials characterization, analytical services, and project management while learning to apply academic knowledge in a practical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret specification requirements and communicate with Collins Operations sites and suppliers.
  • Evaluate hardware for compliance with engineering drawings to ensure material and process requirements are met.
  • Write Formal Engineering Reports to document findings.
  • Manage short-term projects and collaborate with Collins engineering teams to solve materials and process challenges.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status).

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Major in Materials Science or Chemical Engineering.
  • Currently enrolled with at least 30 credit hours earned toward a bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field.
