About the position

The Chemical Engineering/Materials Science Engineering co-op position at Collins Aerospace is designed for students pursuing a degree in a relevant field. This role involves collaborating with internal engineering teams and suppliers to assist in materials and process evaluations, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, and conducting materials characterization and failure investigations. The co-op will provide valuable hands-on experience in the aerospace industry, focusing on quality assurance and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret specification requirements and communicate with Collins Operations sites and suppliers.
  • Evaluate hardware for compliance with engineering drawings to ensure material and process requirements are met.
  • Write Formal Engineering Reports to document findings.
  • Manage short-term projects and collaborate with engineering teams to solve materials and process challenges.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee/asylee status).

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Major in Materials Science or Chemical Engineering.
  • Currently enrolled with at least 30 credit hours earned toward a bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related field.
