About The Position

The Materials Developer role at YETI is focused on managing materials from concept through production launch, collaborating with Product Development and Design teams to achieve seasonal initiatives. This position requires extensive knowledge of materials, construction, and manufacturing considerations, ensuring that all materials meet YETI's quality, cost, and environmental standards.

Requirements

• Degree in a related field or equivalent job experience (apparel, textile design, technology, merchandising, engineering).
• At least 4 years of experience in material sourcing or development.
• Strong working knowledge of test standards applicable to fabric, trims, and components used in the technical outdoor goods industry (ASTM, AATCC, ISO, etc.).
• Strong working knowledge of finished goods construction, material construction and properties, fabric goods patterning, and manufacturing technologies.
• Ability to be a technical resource to others.
• Proven history of problem solving and product innovation.
• Extensive knowledge of supply chain and experience working in Asia.

Responsibilities

• Drive the Research and Development of new material developments and technologies for YETI bags and luggage.
• Manage communications with Tier 2 Suppliers, ensuring materials deliverables are met for all new product development launch deliverables.
• Work closely with our PS+C to ensure compliance of new materials being developed.
• Manage all costing, MOQ's and testing of new materials.
• Support creating the Materials Roadmap.
• Ensure all materials are fully commercialized and meet YETI's requirements for quality, cost, and environmental and social responsibility.
• Partner with Material Suppliers to drive design direction, material performance, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with the internal Design and Product Development teams.
• Manage material level testing with both YETI internal and external testing labs.
• Create and maintain material specifications for use within YETI and our material supplier partners.
• Work with YETI quality teams and material suppliers to support continued adherence to the requirements in our material specifications.
• Proactively work to identify the material development needs of future and in-line products.
