This role is essential in ensuring that the hospital operates smoothly by managing supply and linen inventory, receiving and distributing materials, and overseeing equipment management and mail center duties. The technician is expected to deliver the highest level of service to all customers, demonstrating a willingness to work as part of a team while contributing to a safe and positive work environment. The position requires the ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow established standards while paying attention to detail. In this role, the technician will maintain supplies and linen through accurate PAR level inventory counts, ensuring that all materials are accounted for and utilized efficiently. The technician will also be responsible for verifying, retrieving, and distributing supplies, materials, and equipment to various departments, including off-site locations as necessary. A critical aspect of the job involves organizing and monitoring supplies for expiration dates and package integrity to ensure that sterilization is not compromised. The technician must possess sound math, counting, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to move quickly throughout the hospital on stat calls. The Materials Technician I must demonstrate accountability, initiative, and urgency in their work. They should be able to organize, multi-task, and prioritize effectively while maintaining positive interpersonal skills with customers and team members. The role requires the use of technology and the Materials Management Information Systems to perform daily tasks efficiently. Additionally, the technician must maintain a safe workplace by keeping their work area free of hazards and correcting or reporting any safety issues. The physical demands of the job include regularly lifting bulky or moderately heavy weights (up to 50 pounds) and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks.
