About the position

The Mechanic Team Lead A&P position at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is a critical role responsible for overseeing and coordinating all mechanical system activities related to aircraft maintenance. This position requires a high school diploma or GED, along with an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate. The ideal candidate will have a valid driver's license for operating towing and other Gulfstream transportation equipment, and at least five years of aviation maintenance experience, particularly with mid to large-size aircraft. The role is primarily focused on planning and coordinating maintenance tasks, ensuring that all activities align with service and delivery schedules, and providing daily updates on aircraft testing status and any schedule impacts. In this position, the Mechanic Team Lead will assist management in supervising and instructing aircraft technicians on proper troubleshooting procedures for airframe and engine systems, routine inspections, and preventive maintenance. The lead will also be responsible for assessing the strengths and weaknesses of subordinates, applying their strengths for maximum job efficiency, and providing guidance and growth opportunities. The role includes ensuring that all required components are ordered and available in a timely manner, performing engine runs on aircraft as needed, and maintaining current knowledge of Aircraft Service Changes (ASCs), customer bulletins, and inspection schedule requirements. The Mechanic Team Lead will also perform periodic maintenance and necessary servicing of all aircraft mechanical systems, troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions, and operate ground support equipment. Additionally, the lead will review work to ensure compliance with Gulfstream Repair Station procedures and FAA Airworthiness Standards, and assist in maintaining work schedules and updating CMP cards. The position requires a commitment to safety and good housekeeping practices, as well as the ability to apply 6S and Lean initiatives in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and complete tasks to meet service/delivery schedules.
  • Assist management with supervision and instruction of aircraft technicians in troubleshooting airframe and engine systems.
  • Assist with performance appraisals of subordinates and assess their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Ensure timely availability of required components and manage rework/repair processes.
  • Perform engine runs on aircraft as required and maintain knowledge of Aircraft Service Changes (ASCs).
  • Perform periodic maintenance and servicing of all aircraft mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions such as fluid leaks and minor structural damage.
  • Operate and supervise the use of special support equipment for major component removal and installation.
  • Review work for compliance with Gulfstream Repair Station procedures and FAA Airworthiness Standards.
  • Apply 6S and Lean Initiatives to maintain good housekeeping and safety in all areas.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate required.
  • Valid Driver's License for operating towing and Gulfstream transportation equipment.
  • 5 years of aviation maintenance experience with advanced knowledge of inspection and heavy maintenance of mid/large-size aircraft.
  • Advanced knowledge of inspection and heavy maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
