About the position

As a Mechanical Design Engineer II within the Combustor design group at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in advancing our engine programs and Advanced Technology projects. This position offers an opportunity to gain expert knowledge of engineering disciplines, standards, processes, and tools that are essential for combustor analysis and testing activities. You will work under moderate supervision, developing tools and processes that enhance our combustor design capabilities. Your responsibilities will include debugging, patching, and innovating solutions to accelerate the combustor design process. The Combustion team is a center of excellence dedicated to the design and support of cutting-edge combustion systems that meet and exceed customer requirements. This role involves a variety of activities, including manufacturing, numerical and empirical analysis, design, and product support. We are passionate about promoting sustainable aviation through the design of low-emission, high-efficiency solutions. Given the collaborative nature of this role, you will need to work effectively with design teams, global support, and chief engineering to achieve our goals.

Responsibilities

  • Willing to learn about combustion analysis and testing (rig/engine).
  • Maintain and improve workflows for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis and Thermal & Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS Workbench knowledge preferred).
  • Spearhead tools and method development.
  • Engage in tool modernization, maintenance, and enhancement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of combustion analysis, testing, and numerical tool support experience, specifically in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis or Thermal & Finite Element Analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics.

Nice-to-haves

  • B.S. or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Interest in computer science with a focus on tool and workflow development.
  • Working knowledge, or willingness to learn, Python, C++, C#, and Fortran.
  • Interest in combustion and gas turbine technology.
