About the position

The Mechanical Design Engineer position involves a variety of engineering duties focused on the planning and design of parts, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. The role is based in Lorain, OH, and requires a strong proficiency in Solidworks, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports. The engineer will be responsible for validating, maintaining, and developing part and assembly drawings using Solidworks, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary specifications and standards. In addition to drawing development, the Mechanical Design Engineer will coordinate and monitor all aspects of production. This includes selecting appropriate manufacturing methods, overseeing the fabrication process, and ensuring the operation of product designs aligns with the intended functionality. The engineer will also maintain the product bill of materials using ERP/MRP software alongside Solidworks, which is crucial for tracking components and managing inventory effectively. Another key responsibility is to develop or test models of alternate designs or materials. This involves assessing the feasibility and sustainability of different options, evaluating how operating conditions may affect performance, and determining the necessity of modifications to existing designs. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation, as the engineer will need to explore potential new applications for designs and materials.

Responsibilities

• Validate, maintain, and develop part/assembly drawing using Solidworks.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
• Develop, coordinate, or monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, or operation of product designs.
• Maintain product bill of materials using ERP/MRP software and Solidworks.
• Develop or test models of alternate designs or materials to assess feasibility, sustainability, operating condition effects, potential new applications, or necessity of modification.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology.
• Proficient in Solidworks and Solidworks Simulation.
• Experience with mobile hydraulics.
