Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Mechanical Design and Analysis team. The position will lead the execution of mechanical design and engineering tasks supporting the Department of Defense, intelligence, and missile applications. Candidate will be responsible for applying sound mechanical engineering & design principles in the development of machined, structural, sheet metal, & composite component parts. Candidate will be responsible for bill of material development and component specification for mechanical assemblies. Candidate must be able to apply engineering design processes, such as design for manufacture, drawing production, configuration management, and integration and development of complex mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of mechanical design and engineering tasks.
  • Apply mechanical engineering and design principles in the development of various component parts.
  • Develop bills of material and component specifications for mechanical assemblies.
  • Utilize engineering design processes including design for manufacture and drawing production.
  • Manage configuration and integration of complex mechanical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with 8+ years of experience or 6+ years with MS degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical design of structures.
  • Experience with CAD and 3D modeling.
  • Proficient in drawing production in accordance with ASME Y14.100.
  • Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
