About the position

As a Mechanical Engineer on Olsson's Facilities Engineering and Design team, you will be at the forefront of designing innovative solutions specifically tailored for the healthcare sector. This role requires a licensed Mechanical Engineer who is adept at applying standard engineering techniques and procedures while exercising sound judgment to make necessary adaptations and modifications. Your contributions will be pivotal in generating ideas and creating designs that adhere to the highest standards of quality and efficiency for healthcare facilities. You will engage in various engineering duties that encompass evaluating, designing, and constructing plans for healthcare projects of varying sizes, from small to large-scale initiatives. In this position, you will assist in preparing comprehensive project documents while maintaining a thorough understanding of the project scope, schedule, and budget. You will conduct process design calculations, analyze reports, and prepare cost estimates to assess the feasibility of projects. Your expertise will be essential in coordinating project design aspects, ensuring that all elements align with established standards and practices. Effective communication will be key, as you will be responsible for updating project managers and clients on development and progress. Additionally, you will enter and maintain project information and client records in the firm's project management system, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of data. Your role will also involve evaluating and proposing adaptations to standard methods and procedures for various components of assignments. As a more experienced team member, you will provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. This position offers the opportunity to work in multiple office locations, including Lincoln, Omaha, Des Moines, Denver, Loveland, Colorado Springs, Kansas City, Dallas-Fort Worth, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Phoenix, St. Louis, and Fayetteville, allowing for flexibility in your work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various engineering duties related to evaluating, designing, and constructing plans for small to large-sized healthcare projects.
  • Assist in preparing project documents and maintain knowledge of project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Conduct process design calculations, analyze reports, and prepare cost estimates to assess project feasibility.
  • Apply knowledge and experience with standard techniques, methods, and procedures to assist with coordination of project design aspects.
  • Communicate project development and progress with project managers and clients.
  • Enter and maintain project information and client records in the firm's project management system.
  • Evaluate and propose adaptations to standard methods and procedures for components of assignments.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • A minimum of 4 years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 2 years specifically in designing for healthcare projects.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to the healthcare industry through innovative and reliable mechanical engineering solutions.
