About the position

As a Mechanical Engineer at Cosentini Associates, part of Tetra Tech's High Performance Buildings Group, you will engage in the design of innovative HVAC systems for a variety of projects, including hospitals, laboratories, high-rise residential buildings, and commercial facilities. The position is based in our New York office, which supports a hybrid work environment, providing flexibility to work both from home and in the office. Your responsibilities will include incorporating design changes using AutoCAD and/or Revit software, assisting teams with design load calculations, equipment selections, and mechanical system design. You will also be responsible for providing credit documentation for LEED and other building rating systems, preparing basis-of-design descriptions, and responding to client comments and project-related documentation. Additionally, you will attend meetings with architects, owners, and building managers, review submittals, and respond to Requests for Information. Responsibilities

  • Perform complex mechanical building design on a variety of projects including hospitals, laboratories, high-rise residential and office buildings, and other commercial and institutional projects.
  • Incorporate design changes using AutoCAD and/or Revit software.
  • Assist teams in performing design load calculations, equipment selections, and mechanical system design.
  • Provide credit documentation for LEED and other building rating system design and compliance.
  • Assist in the preparation of basis-of-design descriptions, responses to client comments, and other project-related documentation.
  • Attend meetings with architects, owners, and building managers.
  • Review submittals and provide responses to Requests for Information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in the design of HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, and healthcare facilities.
  • Proficient with Trace 700, AutoCAD, and Revit software.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent technical skills, strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • PE registration is highly preferred in New York, or EIT with the ability to obtain a P.E. in 1-2 years.
  • LEED AP BD C accreditation is preferred.
