About the position

Siemens Industry is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for their Pomona, CA manufacturing facility. This role is pivotal in the growth of the engineering department and the overall facility. The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing specifications, designing steel and copper parts, and creating assembly drawings, bills of materials, and equipment layouts for power distribution equipment. The position requires a strong focus on customer satisfaction and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team. The Mechanical Engineer will utilize Creo (Pro/E) 3D software along with Teamcenter to create parts and assemblies, and will provide factory support during the manufacturing of projects. This role also involves interaction with application engineering, R&D, sales, customers, and manufacturing personnel, and may include training other engineers and employees as needed. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, along with 1-3 years of experience in creating mechanical assemblies. A working knowledge of 3D design software is essential, as is a strong work ethic focused on exceeding customer expectations. The position is based in Pomona, California, and reports to the engineering manager, with no direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer technical specifications and verify the Siemens solution meets the customer requirements.
  • Work independently and/or with a team to create required customer documentation, including custom mechanical assemblies, bills of materials, and equipment layouts.
  • Utilize Creo (Pro/E) 3D software package along with Teamcenter to create steel and copper parts and assemblies.
  • Provide factory support during the manufacture of projects.
  • Interact successfully with application engineering, R&D, sales, customers, and manufacturing production personnel.
  • Assist in training other engineers and employees as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • 1-3 years experience creating mechanical assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of 3D design software.
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on exceeding customer expectations.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Switchgear/Switchboard products.
  • Experience in a fast-paced production engineering environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiar with electrical schematics and electrical components.
  • Skilled in Creo (Pro/E) 3D design software.
  • Experience with a data management system, preferably Teamcenter.
  • Experience with Visual Basic programming or other programming languages.
  • Experience with an ERP system, preferably SAP.
  • Proven track record of innovative thinking and process improvement.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma.
