Sulzer is a leading engineering company with a proud heritage of innovation, and we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Services_AME team in the United States. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and addressing technical issues related to pump systems. Your expertise will be crucial in mechanical design improvements, hydraulic re-rates, vibration analysis, pressure boundary analysis, and metallurgical problem solving. You will also focus on corrosion and erosion issues, optimizing plant systems and rotating equipment interfaces, and understanding maintenance and system operation limitations. Additionally, you will be tasked with trust calculations, seal flush plan optimization, and baseplate design. It is essential to process FEAR's completely and accurately to ensure customer satisfaction. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will provide onsite support to customer sites, troubleshooting and resolving technical problems related to both Sulzer Pump Services and competitors' products. This includes addressing system, mechanical, hydraulic, vibration, metallurgy, and instrumentation & control issues. You will make recommendations to solve these problems and, if necessary, coordinate and supervise personnel to achieve the desired results. Identifying new business opportunities to increase revenue will also be a key part of your responsibilities. You will assist CSS sales personnel with technical issues and presentations, providing technical input for quotes and training for sales staff. You will supervise the revision of drawings and Bills of Material involving equipment design changes and upgrades, preparing engineering documentation suitable for service center order processing. Special projects may include large project management, new business or technical/procedural development, and warranty or nuclear-related analyses and reports. You will be responsible for the technical design and content of packaging pumpsets, including pumps, drivers, baseplates, couplings, lube oil systems, seals flush & bearing cooling plans, and speed torque curve development. Additionally, you will assist service center coworkers with technical shop problems associated with ongoing repair and retrofit projects.
