About the position

You will provide and manage the identification, evaluation and resolution of the Repair Industrial Facility (RIF) TRIDENT submarine equipment technical problems. You will evaluate perceived TRIDENT submarine design deficiencies, especially deficiencies identified within the (RIF), to determine if the source of deficient conditions may result from inadequate Integrated Logistic Support (ILS). You will exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, and resourcefulness in the organization, management, and coordination of activities concerned with scheduling and performing nuclear submarine (SSBN) refits and industrial repairs. You will review proposed design modifications to existing TRIDENT submarine systems and equipment, especially TRIPER equipment, with a view toward alleviating potential problems by influencing the hardware design. You will establish and maintain written and verbal communications using tact, technical accuracy, and persuasiveness during interactions with all levels of personnel from this and other activities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate and resolve technical problems related to TRIDENT submarine equipment.
  • Evaluate design deficiencies in TRIDENT submarines and determine if they stem from inadequate Integrated Logistic Support.
  • Organize, manage, and coordinate activities for scheduling and performing nuclear submarine refits and industrial repairs.
  • Review proposed design modifications to TRIDENT submarine systems to alleviate potential problems.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with personnel at all levels.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Work may involve exposure to harmful physical and chemical agents.
  • Travel may be required to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • Occasional sea duty may be required.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn during work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in analyzing and evaluating technical design deficiencies.
  • Experience in mechanical engineering design services.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration or Engineer Intern (EI) status.
