About the position

The Mechanical Inspector position involves performing inspections on machined parts to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and proficiency with standard quality control measuring devices. The inspector will work in a manufacturing environment, primarily during day shifts, and will be responsible for verifying dimensions and certifications of materials and processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform 1st piece inspection on tight tolerance machined parts.
• Use micrometers, calipers, and other hand-held inspection tools to verify in-process and final dimensions.
• Review and approve material and special process certifications.
• Follow work instructions on shop routers to verify compliance with customer requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of metal manufacturing inspection experience.
• Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Ability to read and interpret machining and fabrication drawings, work instructions, and engineering specifications.
• Familiarity with standard quality control measuring devices such as verniers, micrometers, and height gauges.
• Ability to use a CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) is a plus.
• Understanding of the NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) process with regard to FPI (Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection) and X-ray.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in manufacturing for at least 1 year (preferred).
• Experience in metal manufacturing for at least 1 year (required).
• Experience with inspection tools for at least 1 year (preferred).
