About the position

As a Registered Nurse specializing in Telemetry at Amergis Healthcare Staffing, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care to individuals in a telemetry unit. This role requires a strong foundation in nursing practices, particularly in monitoring and assessing patients with cardiac conditions. You will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring that all actions are in line with established nursing standards and hospital policies. Your ability to make clinical judgments effectively and efficiently will be crucial in this position, as you will be expected to respond to changes in patient conditions and communicate these changes to the medical team promptly. In this role, you will perform focused interviews to identify specific patient needs and assess signs and symptoms indicating physiological and psychosocial changes in patients. You will monitor EKG outputs, record vital signs, and document patient progress in medical records. Additionally, you will be responsible for administering medications, performing diagnostic tests, and educating patients and their families about cardiac health. Your critical thinking skills will be essential as you prioritize patient care requirements and revise care plans based on evaluations and changes in medical conditions. Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care on telemetry unit
  • Performs focused interview to identify specific patient needs
  • Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition
  • Monitors EKG output and keeps doctors informed of any changes
  • Records vital signs, including oxygen levels, blood pressure, breathing patterns, etc.
  • Monitors patient progress and updates patient medical records as needed
  • Responds to patients experiencing cardiac pain
  • Performs various diagnostic tests
  • Manages and administers medication
  • Monitors and uses the electrocardiogram, EKG, or ECG
  • Educates patients on cardiac health and communicates with patient's family when applicable
  • Administers tests, analyzes lab results, and reports them to the physician
  • Documents the patient's plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions
  • Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirements
  • Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard
  • Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment
  • Revises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, effective/ineffective nursing interventions
  • Documents patient's response to nursing and other interventions
  • Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs of an assigned unit/floor including established priorities
  • Monitors safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license for the state in which the nurse practices
  • 2+ years Telemetry experience
  • COVID Vaccine + Booster
  • Flu Vaccine
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
