About the position

The Medical Assistant at UC Health plays a crucial role in the clinical office by performing both administrative and clinical duties. This position is integral to patient care, involving tasks such as obtaining intake information, scheduling tests, and providing patient education. The Medical Assistant is expected to engage with patients and their families, ensuring clear communication and support throughout their care journey.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain intake information for patients and perform clinical tasks as delegated by licensed personnel.
  • Schedule tests and procedures ordered by physicians and provide patient education related to these tests.
  • Engage in population-appropriate communication and involve family/guardians in patient care.
  • Recognize and respond to patients with behavioral health problems and unique psychological needs.
  • Obtain vital signs, EKGs, and laboratory specimens as required for patient evaluation.
  • Assist providers in documenting notes, orders, and prescriptions in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Prepare and maintain the clinic area, including cleaning and stocking examination rooms.
  • Return routine patient telephone calls and document actions taken in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Coordinate ancillary services such as diagnostic testing and hospital procedures.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor in all interactions with patients and staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 7 - 11 months of equivalent experience is preferred.
