About the position

Connecticut GI, a division of GI Alliance, is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to join our Old Saybrook Care Center! We are the largest gastroenterology practice in the state of Connecticut with 31 Care Centers and still growing. Responsibilities

  • Providing Remarkable Patient Experience: responsible for rooming patients, obtaining vital signs (blood pressure, height, and weight) and documenting accurately utilizing Epic EMR.
  • Updating patient's medical history including updated medication list.
  • Documenting all patient phone calls and under the direction and guidance of the provider, informing patients of test results.
  • Familiarity with prior authorization process.
  • Asking appropriate triage questions when speaking with patients and accurately recording in Epic.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an Accredited MA Program (preferred)
  • At least one full year of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, physicians and referring practices.
  • Broad knowledge of medical terminology (1+ year of healthcare experience).
  • EMR experience is ideal, Epic experience is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task and function in a fast-paced, at times, stressful environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a Gastroenterology practice is preferred.
